Course description
The duration of the Military Electronic Systems Engineering MSc is 47 weeks, comprising a taught phase of 28 weeks followed by an individual project phase.
During the taught phase, the course progresses from introductory academic studies through to systems topics. Because the main focus of the course is electronic warfare in relation to communications and sensor systems, a good understanding of these systems is required before going on to look at how to defend them from electronic attack or intercept - the course also covers these areas so that successful graduates are versed in all aspects of electronic warfare.
Throughout the latter part of the taught phase, there is a broad range of visits to industry and defence establishments.
In the project phase, students undertake an individual specialist project in a subject area of their choice, to meet their future career needs. Suitably qualified candidates who achieve an appropriate standard on the course are awarded either the MSc degree or the Cranfield University Postgraduate Diploma in Military Electronic Systems Engineering.
