Course overview

To provide delegates with knowledge and skills necessary to assess and educate drivers, from an applied and theoretical psychological perspective, for designing the structure and content of training, and the methods of evaluation required to investigate training effectiveness.  

 
Location

Cranfield University is located at the very heart of the UK – within the innovation triangle between London and the cities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Our central location provides easy access from the M1, excellent main line rail service as well as proximity to key international airports. Set in rolling countryside, Cranfield offers a rich, rural landscape complemented by thriving towns and picturesque villages.

  • Road: We are just 10 minutes from Junctions 13 & 14 of the M1 motorway. There is free parking on campus. 
  • Rail: Milton Keynes or Bedford

Course description

Course objectives 

On completion of this course, delegates will be able to:

  • Evaluate key perceptual and attentional theories in relation to the driving context
  • Explain the relationship between the perceptual and physiological demands of driving and response outcomes in terms of driving performance and behaviour
  • Classify how different cognitive/physiological responses affect driver distraction and the use of assistive technologies
  • Present individual proposals for suitable driver training / educational approaches
