Course overview
The Seminar programme focuses on providing delegates with an insight into the major contemporary managerial and economic issues affecting the airline industry. Its aim is to broaden participants' knowledge and understanding of how an airline should be managed. The programme includes consideration of cost control, route evaluation and revenue management. The economics of low cost scheduled airlines, and charter airlines are discussed. Strategic issues such as alliance development, marketing changing distribution patterns and airport development are also covered.

Cranfield University is located at the very heart of the UK – within the innovation triangle between London and the cities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Our central location provides easy access from the M1, excellent main line rail service as well as proximity to key international airports. Set in rolling countryside, Cranfield offers a rich, rural landscape complemented by thriving towns and picturesque villages.
- Road: We are just 10 minutes from Junctions 13 & 14 of the M1 motorway. There is free parking on campus.
- Rail: Milton Keynes or Bedford
- Air: London Luton (22 miles), Heathrow (50 miles) or Birmingham (70 miles).

Course description
Course objectives:
- To provide an insight into the economics of air transport and an understanding of key managerial issues within the industry
- To establish a forum for discussion of strategic decisions facing airlines in marketing, planning and organisation.

The seminar will be of value to airline and airport managers, staff in government departments and civil aviation authorities, consultants and representatives of aircraft manufacturers wishing to gain a thorough understanding of the airline industry.
