MSc Aerospace Vehicle Design (Options in Aircraft Design, Avionic Systems Design and Structural Design)
Modern aircraft are a complex combination of aerodynamic performance, lightweight structures and systems engineering. Many technical challenges need to be balanced for an aircraft to economically achieve its Design Specification.
The MSc in Aerospace Vehicle Design course prepares engineers to meet these challenges, and prepares them for careers in civil aviation, military aviation or academia.
You may choose one of the three options available. These are:
Excellent career prospects
This course prepares graduates for careers as project design engineers, systems design, structural design or avionic engineers in aerospace or related industries, with the aim of progressing to technical management/chief engineer. Typical student destinations include BAE Systems, Airbus, Dassault, Rolls-Royce.
Unique Group Design Project
A unique feature of this course is the extensive group design project. The aircraft conceptual design is performed by staff prior to the start of the course, when each student is given responsibility for the detail design of a significant part of the aircraft, for example, forward fuselage, or fuel system.
Learn from our experience
This course is founded upon the knowledge and experience gained by the Department of Aerospace Engineering, through its strong industrial links. Knowledge gained from our extensive research and consultancy activity is constantly fed back into the masters programme to ensure that you achieve a qualification that is valued by employers.
Study in an aerospace environment
This course is taught within an aerospace environment. Cranfield operates a commercial airport and the course includes flying experience with our bulldog aircraft, large aircraft flight simulator and Jetstream Flying Laboratory in which onboard monitors give students first-hand experience of the theory
Benefit from our reputation
