MAG specialises in developing software solutions that aid management teams in performing Command and Control tasks in a number of areas, including simulation and training, planning, operational management and post-event analysis.
MAG solutions can be applied to situations that require the manipulation of complex geo-spatial data such as those managed by the military, disaster relief organisations and and emergency services.
MAG has been involved in developing computer based systems for the military user since 1975. We recognise that software reuse avoids duplication of functionality and dramatically reduces the development cycle. This understanding has lead to the development of our Project THISTLE suite of software applications. It is a software system consisting of loosely coupled applications that communicate with one and other through a shared database. It provides a very well developed system for prototyping military systems. We already have a number of applications that use it. Some of the benefits of THISTLE are:
- Rapid development of prototypes
- Separate development of software tools
- Greater resilience to failure of individual software tools
- ‘Pick and Mix’ capability in building systems for specific users
- Re-usable software components
- Easy replacement/upgrade of individual software tools

MAG has worked closely with the military user to develop these prototypes and has seen the advantage of producing a ‘working’ solution early in the development cycle.
