Career opportunities

Career prospects for students on the Waste and Resource Management course are excellent. A study of emerging markets in the environmental industries sector (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs - Defra, November 2006) identifies waste management as one of the most rapidly growing environmental sectors until 2015. Successful students secure positions within the waste and resource management industry, waste regulation, local authorities, environmental consultancies, process contractors, equipment manufacturers and suppliers serving the international waste and environment sectors. Graduates also go on to research degrees in integrated waste management.

"Studying Waste and Resource Management at Cranfield University has provided my colleagues and I with a sound understanding of the waste management sector at present. Waste and Resource Management initially provides a background to the waste industry, which is then built upon in succeeding weeks to provide a comprehensive view of the systems and processes that operate in this industry."

"The Cranfield experience was essential in providing me with the required technical skills, business understanding and interpersonal skills to work successfully in the commercial world. Cranfield provides a unique learning environment, combining both academic excellence with commercial experience to prepare its students for the real business world.
My time at Cranfield provided me with the building blocks I required to work across technical, commercial and management fields. Without this I would not be in the position I am in now. Cranfield has enabled me to open many doors within the waste and water industry.''
