UK students may be invited to attend for interview, and financial support is best discussed at that time. Overseas and EU students may be interviewed by telephone.

NOTE - Due to the high level of interest it is possible to apply for a place on the MSc up to two years in advance of the enrolment date. So if you are in the first or second year of an undergraduate programme please consider applying early.  

English language requirements

To get the most out of their study, English language preparation is vital for those for whom English is a second language. Such candidates will need to provide evidence of their English language ability with their application form.

We accept any of the following tests as evidence of your English language ability:

IELTS  (International English Language Testing Service): an overall minimum score of 7

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based test - minimum score of 100. Our TOEFL institution code is 0822

TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication): minimum score of 880

Pearson Test of English (Academic): an overall score of 65

Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English with a minimum of Grade C

In addition to these minimum overall test scores, you are expected to achieve a balanced score across the reading, writing, listening and speaking elements of the test. We reserve the right to reject any test score if any one element of the test score is too low. 

Please note that we will only accept tests taken within 2 years of the start date of your course (with the exception of Cambridge English tests which have no expiry date).

Our Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses are designed for students that have yet to meet their English language entry requirement or for students that wish to gain an insight into Cranfield academic life before beginning their postgraduate study. 

The Pre-Master’s Course in Engineering is available for students whose prior qualifications do not reach the standard entry requirements for a Masters programme. Taken on a full-time basis over one year, assessment is via examination, assignments and design exercises/projects. Successful completion results in registration for this Cranfield MSc. Please refer to the course website for further information.

The Introduction to Motorsport Engineering short course is available to prospective students registering for the MSc in Motorsport Engineering and Management course. It is also offered to individuals interested in developing their understanding of motorsport engineering.

Cranfield University takes its responsibilities towards disabled/dyslexic students seriously. Candidates must possess, or be expected to achieve, a 1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree in a relevant science, engineering or related discipline, or the international equivalent of these UK qualifications.  Other relevant qualifications together with considerable industrial experience may be considered. Part-time candidates should be employed in a graduate level position within motorsport, automotive, aerospace, electronics or associated sectors.

The full-time MSc Motorsport Engineering & Management commences each October and is of 12 months' duration.Part-time students can commence study throughout the year and are expected to complete the programme within three years. PgCert and PgDip are two years in duration.
