Integrated Vehicle Health Management MSc/PgDip/PgCert
Part-time
Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) is an emerging discipline bringing together the use of intelligent sensors and real-time data communication to enable operations and maintenance decisions based on accurate condition monitoring of equipment and assets. IVHM has wide application across a range of vehicles and sectors including aerospace, marine, automotive and rail. The through-life asset and environmental benefits demonstrated have put IVHM
on the capability roadmap of major engineering companies, with growing interest from the energy and health sectors.
This unique MSc develops professionals with the ability to take a holistic and systematic approach to IVHM, integrating the range of technologies to deliver significant business benefits and improve competitiveness.
The Integrated Vehicle Health Management MSc/PgDip/PgCert was developed through the Cranfield Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre, launched in 2008 in partnership with major industry organisations (Boeing, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt, Thales, MOD, Alstom Transport) and EEDA, to enable the incorporation of IVHM technology into UK and global businesses. The technology enables businesses to realise significant benefits in business productivity, environmental impact, and vehicle performance.
Drawing on leading research being conducted in the IVHM Centre, the course is designed to deliver a holistic approach to IVHM. Students learn to identify business opportunities where IVHM can make a real difference. They are trained through the concepts and practice of the end-to-end process from sensing data from assets, communicating the data for analysis, and formulating operational decisions from the resulting data base.
Qualifications of Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip), comprising the eight taught modules and the group project, and Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert), comprising six taught modules, are also available.
