Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) - Accredited Course

The MSc in Geographical Information Management is an accredited course within the RICS-Cranfield University Partnership.

Current students can become student members of RICS. There is no fee for student membership, and it gives access to some RICS services. Those graduates of the MSc interested in achieving Professional Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors can do so through the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) route. The APC is the structured training period carried out by candidates who have graduated with an RICS-approved degree and have commenced employment. Candidates have to record a minimum of two years of experience followed by an interview in front of a panel of assessors. If they are successful at this interview they gain professional status. Through the APC, including the period of structured training and professional assessment, RICS seeks to satisfy itself that those who have an acceptable level of competence in carrying out the work of a professionally qualified surveyor on behalf of clients or an employer are admitted to Professional Membership.
