This is a technical course examining the treatment and application of biogas from anaerobic digestion. During the first day the morning will focus on biogas production, properties and analysis. In the afternoon biogas treatment and upgrading technologies will be introduced and their operational performance and economics outlined. A flow sheet exercise will be completed to develop understanding of treatment combinations to achieve required biogas qualities. The second day examines the drivers, options and economics for the following biogas applications from CHP to transport and gas grid injection.
The course will examine the following topic areas:
- Introduction to biogas production from organic wastes using anaerobic digestion
- Biogas properties and analysis
- Biogas treatment and upgrading technologies
- CHP sizing and operation
- Biogas use in transport applications
- Biogas use in the gas grid.
Who should attend
This course is designed for operators, utility managers, process engineers, consultants, contractors, regulators and researchers in the water and waste sectors. A basic background knowledge of anaerobic digestion and biogas production is assumed and an engineering or technical background is helpful.
Benefits of attending
- Solid grounding in the fundamentals of biogas production, collection and analysis
- Expanded knowledge of biogas treatment and upgrading technology options and performance
- Understand developments for biogas applications in CHP, transport and gas grid systems
- Opportunity to meet and learn from biogas experts on the ground in their own organisations
- Connect with recent sector-funded research on biogas treatment and application.
