CIRP Design Conference 2009
Competitive Design
This conference was held at Cranfield University on 30-31 March 2009
The term ‘design’ is synonymous with innovation and creativity. In today’s fast-changing engineering environment, the need to enhance the role of design and creativity in all aspects of business is increasingly acknowledged.
The application of good design techniques within both product and service organisations has grown in importance, encompassing areas such as communication, behaviour and environment, enabling engineering organisations to develop and maintain a competitive edge.
This conference focused on the notion of design as a pivotal activity, creating and setting in motion the vision of the future within an engineering environment. The conference presented multidisciplinary research encompassing concepts, methodologies and infrastructure development for successful competitive design.
The design conference ran back to back with the Industrial Product-Service Systems (IPS2) conference.
