Background
Dr Yuchun Xu joined Cranfield University as a Lecturer in June 2008. Prior to this, he worked at Queen’s University Belfast on Whole Life Cost (WLC) modelling for aircraft in collaboration with QinetiQ and Airbus UK.
Yuchun obtained his BEng (Hons) degree in Automotive Engineering, and a PhD in Manufacturing Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), China. He then, worked mainly as a postdoctoral researcher in Tianjin University, China, and Cardiff University, Wales respectively. Through his experience, Yuchun has built up his multi-disciplinary research background. His research areas include: Cost Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Reverse Engineering, and Mechatronics.
Yuchun has also worked with industry, his industrial customers vary from medium to multi-national companies including Airbus and QinetiQ. He has also worked on a wide range of industrial projects within sectors, including Aerospace, Automotive, and Medical Devices.
