Background
Dr Adriana Encinas-Oropesa gained an Industrial Design degree in Guadalajara Mexico in 1992. After some years working in industry, she completed a masters degree in Industrial Design and New Product Creation in Barcelona, Spain. She studied the hot corrosion of single crystal superalloys and platinum-aluminide coatings for her PhD and graduated in 2006 at Cranfield.
Since then, Adriana has been a Research Officer at Cranfield’s Energy Technology Centre, working on the study/understanding of the performance of materials in gas turbines engines for power generation and/or aircraft application; as well as testing methods related to materials and coating performance in specific corrosive/oxidation environments.
