Background
During his Master's degree Dr Dudziak was involved in computing modelling of NiAl-Pt modified alloy using Generalised Darkens Method in argon atmosphere (interdiffusion modelling). He graduated from Krakow University of Science and Technology in 2005. Tomasz's MSc was titled 'Interdiffusion Platinum, Rhenium, Rhodium in b-NiAl'. In 2003-2004 he was invited to join Compiegne University of Technology under an Erasmus - Socrates Programme. There he successfully completed the research work, submitting two reports:
1) Studies of chromium oxide scale using optical microscope, scanning electron microscopy, and acoustic emission
2) Mechanical and diffusional aspects of high temperature oxidation of the low carbon steel under water vapour.
As a PhD student Dr Dudziak was involved in a European Union project, InnovaTiAl. The aim of this project is to develop a new type of coating for high temperature application (above 600oC). TiAl alloys have been selected as a new type of structural material. As a participant in InnovaTiAl his key duties are preparing experiments in laboratory (coating preparation, oxidation, sulphidation, hot corrosion, diffusion annealing), writing reports, attending meetings throughout the European Union, and preparing an analysis on XRD (X-Ray Diffraction Analyzer, EDS Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy, SEM – Scanning Electron Microscope).
