Background

Starting from a base in manufacturing simulation Peter’s work has expanded to include production planning and control, manufacturing supply design, supply chain design and sustainable manufacturing simulation and modelling. Research projects have ranged from production improvement to systems implementation and from supply chain diagnostics to sustainable manufacturing. He has worked on a number of projects in the areas of engineering service systems and sustainable manufacturing including EPSRC funded project “Discrete Event Simulator for Modelling Support Services in an Engineering Environment” the TSB funded project on Through Life Energy and Resource Modelling (THERM) and the“EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing (CIM) on Industrial Sustainability

As a chartered member (CEng) of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a member of the Institute of Operations Management (IOM), he has worked with several SMEs on supply chain diagnostic and improvement programmes as a result of being appointed as a Supply Chain Counsellor for the development agency, Scottish Enterprise.  Additionally Peter is an Associate of the Higher Education Academy’s Engineering Subject Centre capturing and disseminating best practice in engineering education.
