Background

Dr Daniel Baldock has a BSc in Microbiology from the University of Nottingham, an MSc in Medical Molecular Biology from the University of Westminster, London and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Leeds.

His undergraduate research project focused on identifying novel Antarctic bacteria. Dr Baldock's Masters gave him additional techniques in bacterial identification and manipulation, and his MSc research project involved development of novel RT-PCR primers for the 16S region of several common nosocomial infections.

Dr Baldock's PhD focused on photodynamic therapy; bacterial killing using novel photo-reactive dyes (phenothiazinium salts).

He has previously worked for the NHS in a microbiology lab, demonstrated Microbiology to undergraduates, and taught Biology in a college of further education.
