17 Feb 2009 - Cranfield students' employment prospects enhanced through SAP alliance
Cranfield University is currently celebrating 10 years of collaboration with SAP this year through the University Alliance programme, recognising the importance of university-business collaboration in enhancing the employment prospects of its graduates.
Cranfield was one of the first universities to integrate SAP into its postgraduate teaching, recognising that SAP skills are in high demand in industry. Since 2008, Cranfield students have also been eligible for financial support towards SAP certification, which has proved extremely popular.
Currently, SAP provides hands-on ERP experience in a number of Cranfield programmes, including:
- MSc Enterprise System Implementation
- MSc IT for Product Engineering
- MSc Knowledge Management and Information
- MSc Engineering and Management of Manufacturing Systems
- MSc Management and Information Systems
- MSc Manufacturing Consultancy
Krzysztof Usowicz, an alumnus from Cranfield’s MSc IT for Product Engineering programme, said, "My Cranfield degree is a really strong point in my CV. Having gained SAP skills through the MSc IT for Product Engineering and based on my previous programming experience, I am now an SAP programmer. The course gave me a solid base of knowledge associated with industrial applications and the industrial world itself."
Dr Ip-shing Fan, Senior Lecturer in Enterprise Systems at Cranfield, said “The SAP experience has been invaluable in offering students a greater appreciation of how SAP technology can be used to manage complex business processes and implementation issues. The additional support offered for students through the University Alliance Programme towards SAP certification has also had an enthusiastic response from the students. Employers definitely value the additional experience this programme offers the students.”
