06 Nov 2009 - Financial support for Cranfield’s motorsport students

Recognising the importance of educating the motorsport engineering professionals of the future, the Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust has awarded two students on Cranfield University’s motorsport Master’s programme financial support through substantial bursaries. Jackie Stewart

The Grand Prix Mechanics Charitable Trust, chaired by Sir Jackie Stewart OBE, offers two bursaries annually to Cranfield students on the University’s renowned MSc in Motorsport Engineering and Management programme to help subsidise study and living expenses throughout their year of study.

Students Hannah Hammond and Michael Bottomley were presented with their bursaries by Sir Jackie Stewart earlier this week.

Michael said: “Having planned to fund myself through the Cranfield course after previously working in the motorsport industry, I really needed to consider how I would manage this without having to compromise my studying with other employment during the year. I am extremely grateful to the Trust for awarding me the bursary, as it will make a huge difference financially to my year at Cranfield, allowing me to fully focus on my studies and maximise my time here.”

Hannah added: "The truly generous bursary will greatly help me by allowing me to concentrate on achieving my full potential during the MSc rather than worrying about money. It is fantastic to know that such an organisation supports students like me, and it was a wonderful bonus to meet a racing legend like Sir Jackie Stewart.”
