Press Release

23 Nov 2006 - Cranfield wastes no time in gaining recognition for masters course

Cranfield University’s Integrated Waste Management MSc programme has achieved official accreditation from the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), the leading international body for waste and resource management.

Steve Lee, CEO of CIWM says, “CIWM had provisionally accredited the Integrated Waste Management course from 1st September 2005, the first year it ran, as we require the testimonials of students and examples of work before official accreditation can be awarded. The course has demonstrated this to an exceptional standard, and the official accreditation will be back dated to 1st September 2005 in order to reflect this achievement.”

Course Director, Richard Smith, said, “We are of course delighted with the news that the Integrated Waste Management course has achieved accreditation from such a key organisation in the waste sector. The students will benefit from closer links with CIWM, enhanced networking opportunities and membership of CIWM with all its associated benefits.”

The Integrated Waste Management MSc has been developed in conjunction with industry to address the urgent demand for well qualified, technical staff with management expertise who can meet the challenges of the future waste and resource management agenda. The course is also accredited by The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
