Glucose sensor

Our worldwide reputation in the field of biomedical sensors and biosensors has been built up over twenty-five years, and has led to the development of products such as the amperometric mediated glucose oxidase based sensor, distributed around the globe for use by diabetics.

Current research focuses on sensors and sensing technology for healthcare, environmental detection and food safety and some examples can be found by clicking here. Medical applications include the detection of cancer and disease biomarkers, the use of mass spectrometric and optical techniques for early diagnosis and monitoring of disease and gas sensors for the detection of volatile patterns in breath and emanating from clinical samples consistent with particular diseases.

Environmental applications include sensors for the determination of pathogens, heavy metals, bio-toxins and organophosphate pesticides, and includes sensors which can operate in extreme environments.
