Applied Bioinformatics MSc - full and part-time
Course aim
This new and fast-growing field requires forward-thinking people who understand both the biological and computing aspects of this science – Cranfield’s Applied Bioinformatics course has been specifically designed to produce graduates of this nature.
This MSc aims to produce graduates who are able to understand the needs of laboratory-based practitioners and provide them with the tools and analysis necessary to make the most of their data. As such you will be trained in the current state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools, the analytical techniques for understanding and handling complex data sets and also learn to program in the two major languages used in bioinformatics; Perl and Java.
On completion of this course you will be able to archive, analyse and interpret data collected from biological experiments using information technology and apply this to the development of new drugs and diagnostic tools - you will be equipped with a diverse set of knowledge and skills that directly meet the requirements of employers in this sector.
