Current activities

Dr Meglinski's current work is focused on research and teaching related to the development of new modern non-invasive photon migration imaging/diagnostic techniques and their applications in medicine & biology, material science, environment, pharmacy, food and health care industries.  The specific areas of Igor's current research include: Low-coherent non-invasive optical biopsy; Optical 3D tomography and topography of blood flow and blood microcirculation in skin, brain and tumours; Functional brain imaging and neuro-imaging diagnostics; Functional cellular and molecular fluorescence imaging; Optical spectroscopy for non-invasive medical diagnostics; Image reconstruction and computer modelling of radiation/waves propagation in complex random media, including bio-tissues; Further development of Diffusing Wave Spectroscopy (DWS), Coherent back-scattering, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Optical & Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) for the basic studies of cerebral and tumour physiology and associated clinical application; The environmental security remote sensing monitoring and Plants photonics.
