The intelligent propulsion and electromechanics laboratory (IPEL) has established an indoor facility for small-scale unmanned ground vehicles which brings experimental work one step closer from the laboratory bench to the testing arena but with the safety of a risk-free indoor facility.
Summary of applications
This novel testing capability within IPEL offers an innovative learning experience for students and researchers with realistic landscaping and varying terrain allowing scale vehicles to be exposed to similar conditions to those found in the field.
The vehicles are remotely operated with partial autonomy and allow team members to monitor a large range of data via a remote computer station.
