Core skills training programme
A generic core skills training programme is provided for all research students. This is structured as a series of half day or full day events, coupled with, where appropriate, smaller interactive group sessions running several times for some of the topics. This training programme also acts as a social and networking forum to foster and develop Cranfield’s research student community.
There are two stages to this programme, ‘Getting Started’ and ‘Continuing Support’, each of which is designed to augment the skills that research students will need during these phases of their research and in their future careers. The programme is deliberately not directed at individual research areas, as subject-specific training will be provided by the Doctoral Training Centre to which the student belongs.
All full time research students should attend this programme as a record of this training is included as part of each student's review process. Part time students are also encouraged to attend this programme, combining attendance with supervision visits, where possible.
