2nd Wound Ballistics Symposium

Event date: 20 August 2013
Event end date: 20 August 2013

Location:

Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham

What is this Symposium About

The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham is hosting the second symposium on Wound Ballistics within the series of Symposia at Shrivenham, to be organised by the Department of Engineering and Applied Science of Cranfield Defence and Security at the Defence Academy.

This event is all about the science and study of penetrating wound ballistics

We do hope you will join us.

Why should you attend?

The intention is to provide an academic forum for dissemination of unclassified research regarding the science and study of wound ballistics. The emphasis is on the broad base discussion of the formation of the wound rather than the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This symposium is a premier event where the Wound Ballistics Community comes together for the presentation of technical papers from prestigious invited international speakers.

Who will be there?

The symposium will be attended by representatives of Government, military and law enforcement organisations, medical researchers, forensic scientists, coroners, ammunition designers.  It would be of considerable interest to those attending the Small Arms and Cannons Symposium 21and 22 August.

This symposium uses a well proven format which brings together these groups from around the world in a relaxed atmosphere within the surroundings of the Defence Academy.

How can you contribute?

Through presentations, discussion groups and plenary sessions, the purpose is to encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas, the development of new perspectives and the challenging of current thinking.  Time is planned into the programme to allow formal and informal discussions both in the main lecture theatre and during the breaks for coffee, lunch and tea, all of which provide an ideal and convivial focus for networking and discussing issues with your professional peers who are each addressing the various challenges from their own perspective.  Your input to discussions is pivotal.  We are also inviting submissions of commercial and scientific Posters.

Call for abstracts

The call for abstracts (300 words) for this peer-reviewed conference is now open and will close 30 April 2013

Poster Session and Displays

This symposium provides a highly targeted audience.  Time will be especially allotted to Poster Sessions and to the displays.   We offer companies, departments and establishments an opportunity to display their equipment, advertise their capability or present research.  A complimentary half page advertisement in the symposium programme is available to those who book display space.  Please see the Display Space Application online or on the attached form for options and costs. Your completed application for display space needs to be returned by 2 July 2013.  Please note that Display personnel need to register as delegates if they wish to attend symposium presentations and lunch. Please contact us if you wish to submit a commercial of scientific Poster.

Sponsorship

There are opportunities for sponsoring this event.  The name of the sponsor, with logo, will appear in the symposium programme and will be advertised before each break in the programme.  Depending on the level of sponsorship, additional benefits may be available (complimentary registration fees, display spaces etc).  Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss options of sponsorship and the benefits to be gained.
