Current activities
Peter Wilkinson’s current responsibilities include:
- Preparation and running of student practicals in the Main Teaching Laboratory.
- Preparation and delivery of lecture demonstrations.
- Supervision of the IR and UV-Vis Spectrophotometers and assistance with other analytical machines.
- Administration of chemical and glassware store.
- Assisting with research work.
Background
Peter Wilkinson read Chemistry at Pembroke College, Oxford; he graduated in 2002 with a MChem (hons) degree. His masters research project was in Organic Synthesis under Dr. Rob Adlington's supervision in Professor Sir Jack Baldwin's Group in the Dyson Perrins.
After graduating he followed up his interest in fine wines by working at Oddbins Wine Merchants. He then trained to become a Science teacher, gaining a PGCE at the Westminster Institute of Education and worked in a school near Oxford.
