Current activities

Mark Viner is a Fellow of Cranfield University Forensic Institute & Chief Executive of the Inforce Foundation. He is also a Senior Manager at Barts and The London Hospitals, London.

He is a registered forensic practitioner, a member of the Forensic Science Society and the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and was awarded a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellowship and the Fellowship of the College of Radiographers in 2005.

Background

Mark has over 25 years experience as radiographer and radiology manager and has a long held interest in forensic imaging and emergency planning. He co-ordinated the forensic radiography team for the United Nations ICTY in Yugoslavia from 1996-2001 and worked as forensic radiography consultant in the Balkans, Sierra Leone & the Irish Republic and for several high profile cases in the UK including several terrorist incidents.

He is a founder member and first chair of the International Association of Forensic Radiographers, an advisor to the UK Home Office, The Government Office for London and to the International Criminal Court in the Hague. He has lectured widely at international conferences and contributed a number of radiology chapters to forensic textbooks including “Recovery, Analysis and Identification of Commingled Human Remains”, “Human Identification – An Introduction”, “Forensic Medicine for Lawyers” and “The Forensic Investigation of Mass Graves” and is co-editor of “Brogdon’s Forensic Radiology” – 2nd Edition. He has been an active member of the College of Radiographers , holding office at local, regional and national levels.
