Background
Melanie Sapsford studied for her degree in Archaeology and Chemistry at the University of Exeter writing a dissertation on the analysis of lipid degration from buried remains, graduating in 2003.
During 2003 Melanie was invited to present a paper at the conference of the British Association for Human Identification (BAHID)
She then took an MSc in Biomedical and Forensic Studies in Egyptology at the University of Manchester, specialising in the use of analytical chemistry in the identification of ancient Egyptian artefacts and mummified remains.
Currently Melanie is studying for a PhD in the Use of Minerals in Ancient Medicine at the Centre for Archaeological and Forensic Analysis.
Melanie is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Melanie chose Cranfield University for its way of life and friendly staff as well as the opportunities of working in a World Class Research facility that would be open to her on completion of her PhD.
