Current activities
Professor Rogers has been research active since 1992 and has been at the forefront of medically related education and research since the inception of this activity at Shrivenham. His current research areas have evolved into a wide portfolio (mostly biophysical sciences) involving National and International collaborations. His specialist research area involves the development and exploitation of X-ray diffraction methods applied to imaging and materials characterisation. The activities of Professor Rogers research group continue to attract international attention; his work on collagen has stimulated similar work in several other countries. Professor Rogers work has focused upon the applications of X-ray scattering for materials analysis and imaging. He also has 3 graduate students working in the area of biophotonics using spectroscopies for disease diagnosis. One of his current passions is the (sometimes controversial) issue of the application of synchrotron radiation to medicine.Research Interests - Medical Sciences

Undertook undergraduate degree in Physics at Cardiff University (1980) and went on to a PhD in the crystallography of molecular disordered systems also within the Physics Department at Cardiff (1984). Moved to the University of Wales College of Medicine as an MRC research fellow on an i3 year imaging programme.
Accepted at teaching position at Cranfield (1986) and has worked through a number of academic positions to the current post.
