Current activities

Nigel manages two modules on the Defence Acquisition Management Masters courses and one on the MBA(Defence) course.  He also lectures on several short courses, including Through Life Capability Management and Supply Chain Management.

Background

Nigel joined the Centre for Defence Acquisition at Cranfield University in June 2008 from Ernst & Young where he was, for two and a half years, a Director in their Government Services Practice.  Prior to Ernst & Young, Nigel worked in, KPMG Consulting and EDS for 5 years each.  Nigel has been involved in working with the MOD on both Logistics and Personnel programmes such as lean logistics, category & supplier management initiatives, various PFIs & PPPs, Joint Personnel Administration and information services outsourcing.  He has also worked with other government departments including risk management with the Cabinet Office, procurement management with the DWP and IT outsourcing with the Home Office.

Prior to working in the Private Sector Nigel held a British Army commission for 18 years.  In his final appointments with the military he developed the implementation plans for the Army IS Strategy and set up the Logistics Information Systems Agency (the precursor of the Logistics Applications IPT) 

Nigel holds a Cranfield Masters in Design of Information Systems, a degree in Civil Engineering and is an ISEB Project Manager.
