Professor Steve Murray has recently been appointed to lead the Department of Engineering and Applied Science within Cranfield Defence and Security. Previous posts have been Head of Centre for Ordnance Science and Technology and Head of Ammunition Systems and Explosives Technology Group.
Professor Murray has 30 years experience in explosives and munitions science and technology. He has been Chairman of postgraduate explosives courses delivered at the UK Defence Academy and Academic Course Manager for specialist military courses such as the Ammunition Technical Officers Course. Professor Murray also has successfully developed a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses on a wide range of explosives and munition safety related topics delivered to MoD and defence industry worldwide. Professor Murray also provides specialist advice to this customer base.
Professor Murray is a member of Council of the Institute of Explosives Engineers and has been a champion for the professionalisation of the explosives sector.
