Current activities
Since joining CSSM Paula Macphee has taken on the role of coordinating the off-site courses which Cranfield University facilitate on behalf of the UK’s Stabilisation Unit. Paula is also responsible for coordinating the CSSM’s overseas courses, which includes the MSc Security Sector Management, which is running in Addis Ababa.
Paula’s current interests are focussed towards the approach to SSM in Latin America, principally the security policies implemented in Colombia

Background
Before joining CSSM Paula Macphee spent 3 years working for the United Kingdom’s Border Agency, 2 years at the British Embassy in Colombia and 1 year at the British Consulate in Chicago.
Prior to working for the British Government, Paula was employed by Cranfield University as CSSM’s Programme Manager for Latin and the Caribbean, based in Bogota, Colombia. During this time, Paula was involved in a number of regional initiatives related to security sector management, including work in Guatemala, Guyana, Bolivia and Colombia. Having spent a total of five years living in Bogota, during which time Paula completed her post-graduate degree in International Relations, she developed a keen interest in the area of security sector management in Latin America and the different approaches to conflict resolution and peace agreements which have been adopted across the region.
