Background

Richard Hall began his career at the University of York spending five years in the Department of Physics where he was involved in the construction of large gas discharge tubes, the development of helium/neon lasers and the design, manufacture and repair of high vacuum systems. He then spent a further six years in the Department of Chemistry constructing specialist glassware for the organic and inorganic research and teaching laboratories as well as for the Analytical Services Group.

Richard moved from Yorkshire to Wiltshire when he was appointed by The Ministry of Defence to be responsible for the provision of scientific glassware for teaching and research at the Royal Military College of Science. Later he transferred to employment with Cranfield University who became the Academic Provider for the MoD.

The Royal Military College of Science was re named the Defence College of Management and Technology in 2005.

DCMT is now part of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

Richard has diversified into web publishing and is responsible for the Department of Engineering and Applied Science Web and Intranet sites.

He is a member of several School and University Committees.

Richard is Manager, on a voluntary basis, of the Defence Academy's outdoor swimming pool.
