  • Investigating the effect of the binder material during the pressing process
  • Novel explosives and reduced vulnerability
  • Member of EHTWP Committee.

Background

Sally Gaulter is a Research Scientist specialising in the formulation and processing of secondary explosive compositions with the main objective of producing less vulnerable compositions with comparable power/performance parameters.

Sally’s main areas of expertise are PBX formulation, manufacture and assessment and the development of compositions for compliance with the Insensitive Munitions requirements.

Work Areas

  • Materials: Novel polymers and plasticisers and explosives
  • Rheological work: particle size, shape, morphology.
  • Polymer/plasticiser ratio.
  • Particle packing ratios.
  • Hazard assessment of explosive novel compositions,
  • Determine the through ife assessment of missile systems
  • Mechanical and chemical assessment of missiles and weapons.
  • Interfacial bonding studies
