Current activities
Mr Peter Forster is a senior lecturer at the Centre for Forensic Computing and Security and is the Academic lead for the MSc in Forensic Computing.
Peter's current areas of specialist interest in forensic computing include programming, evidence and procedure, encryption, time and date evidence, teaching forensics and modelling the forensic process.
Background
Peter was the Head of the Forensics Team at the UK National Technical Assistance Centre from 2001 to 2011. His responsibilities included the approval of all applications by public authorities under section 49 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000. NTAC forensics is highly regarded both nationally and internationally and has been involved in many of the high profile criminal cases of the 21st century.
Previously Peter was a detective in Hampshire Constabulary where he specialised in fraud, computer crime investigation and forensic computing. He was jointly responsible for creating Hampshire Constabulary's Hi-Tech Crime capability in 1998.
