Vision:

To support the CDS vision by being the international centre of expertise in management and leadership, teaching, research, advice and consultancy.

 

Mission:

To develop and deliver high quality education and training, research, advice and consultancy in management and leadership in order to enhance the delivery of defence and security capability.

 

Objectives:

To support all CDS and University aims with particular emphasis:

  • To be a research informed academic community which delivers quality  postgraduate programmes, short courses and continuing professional development courses in leadership and management for the defence and security sector
  • To maintain a financially viable performance which returns an agreed percentage of turnover (minimum 2%) contribution annually to the University
  • To delight our customers in an agile and responsive way by:
  • Enhancing and developing our existing products in their current markets
  • Taking existing products into new markets, including spin out to commerce and industry
  • Developing new products for our current markets

        and, where appropriate, building partnering or strategic relationships within the defence and security sector

  • To attract, retain and develop staff, who undertake research and build intellectual capacity and provide excellent customer support to enhance the reputation of the Centre through high quality:
    • Knowledge transfer
    • Publications
    • Teaching
    • Advice and consultancy
  • To operate in a coherent, integrated, inclusive manner within an entrepreneurial, multi-disciplinary and positive culture
  • To seek opportunities for international collaboration in our niche areas of activity where:
    • There is an acceptable business case
    • It is consistent with the School’s and University’s mission in the UK
    • It is compatible with the University’s codes of practice for assuring academic quality and standards associated with collaborative provision
