An academic career in forensics at Cranfield University can lead not only to an exciting job role but open up numerous opportunities.
Nikki Woolmore
Cranfield alumna Nikki Woolmore is no ordinary woman. Following taking the Forensic Engineering and Science MSc and a PhD at Cranfield University Nikki landed a job as a ballistics specialist in the Defence Ordnance Safety Group for the Ministry of Defence. She is involved in a variety of exciting projects looking at every aspect of ordnance, munitions and explosives.
Nikki has appeared in countless newspaper articles and on local radio shows. Her latest TV project for the National Geographic Channel, What Would Happen If? put her ballistic skills into action. It involved her testing everyday items to see if they could withstand the force of a bullet – including a camera, CD player, and even an iPod.

John McGlinchey
John McGlinchey holds a Masters Degree in Forensic Engineering and Science from the Cranfield Forensic Institute.
In 1988 he opened his own practice and his knowledge has taken him into the areas of forensic ballistics, as applicable to pedestrians and motorcyclists, bullets and other projectiles, crime scene evaluation, biomechanics, tyre construction, and to the interests of forensic pathology and eyewitness psychology.
