Molecular Modelling

Molecular modelling is the study of the geometry and properties of molecules by the use of computer – aided techniques and is one of the fastest growing fields in science. It may vary from building and visualizing molecules to performing complex calculations on molecular systems.
The technique enables scientists to not only visualise the structure, properties and composition of molecules but also predict their structure, properties and reaction mechanisms.
Applications of the research within the Group include catalysis, supported superconductors, sensors and new materials.
A recent study has focussed on understanding and optimising the performance of portable power supplies, such as batteries, used in mobile phones and laptop computers.
