Collaborative research and development
Collaborative research and development is a favoured mechanism by businesses as projects usually draw on additional sources of funding to maximise the value of the research undertaken. A collaborative research project is one where there are multiple partners undertaking the project.
Cranfield has vast amounts of experience working alongside businesses to develop collaborative projects and partnerships that benefit from additional funding (both high and low in value). We have the management expertise to bid for and lead complex research projects containing multiple partners. Examples of additional funding sources include:
- Research Councils: to aid the development of fundamental research
- Technology Strategy Board: the TSB run various competitions through their Innovation Platforms, typically aiding the development of product/processes to near market solutions.
- Energy Technology Institute: the ETI through their technology programmes sponsor large scale demonstration projects to help bring to market technologies that will aid the UK meet its energy and climate change goals.
- Regional Development Agencies: Cranfield have built strong relationships with its RDAs and are fully briefed on all available funding opportunities from the Proof of Concept Fund to Grants for R&D.
- European Funding: Cranfield academics are involved in wide variety of collaborative R&D programmes within Europe, we can provide expert advice on working within the European Union Framework Programme or making best use of the available Regional Development funds.
