On-Line Learning
Cranfield University has developed, together with BAE Systems, a suite of innovative online learning courses. They are multimedia, tutored by a Cranfield academic and interactive for a high quality learning experience. Each course engages up-to-date online learning technologies and the latest web-based software to deliver the material to the delegate at work or at home.
Level 1 course (DVD)
There is a Foundation level course which is on a DVD and is freely available at all Learning Resource Centres throughout BAE Systems. You can also request one from Kayleigh Brennan email k.brennan@cranfield.ac.uk

Who are they for?
- The courses are at HND / 1st year undergraduate level.
- The minimum entry qualification to these courses is A 'Level / ONC mathematics or equivalent.
- They are for engineers or those who work with engineers
- For graduates, apprentices, re-trainers, those people changing roles, those wanting a deeper knowledge of a subject
- They are not restricted to BAE Systems employees but are now available to anyone, worldwide
How do they run?
- The course content is provided via Blackboard Virtual Learning environment on the Cranfield Intranet
- They are purely on-line in your own workplace - no external lectures
- Each course is launched for a cohort of delegates who interact electronically, enhancing the learning environment
- Delegates receive login details plus the URL to the learning website
- The course material comprises audio/visual presentations containing powerpoint information and video clips
- Each course has a tutor at hand to advise and mark the assessments.
- Assessed via Assignments and a Group Project
How long do they take?
- Each course covers approximately 12 to 18 weeks. This is based on an 'average' delegate working steadily on the course for 5 hours per week.

- Successful completion is certificated by BAE Systems and Cranfield University and provides 'further learning requirements' towards Professional Registration (IEng, CEng)
