Aviation and the environment

Vapour trails

Global air transport is growing rapidly with the potential for aviation emissions to double over the next 50 years.

The significant increase in air travel is affecting our environment through noise, air pollution and damage to landscapes. More widely, emissions from aircraft engines are a contributing factor in global warming.

Cranfield takes a multi-disciplinary approach to these diverse global challenges, delivering workable solutions to governments and major aerospace companies.

We aim to assist the industry in offsetting the environmental impact of civil aviation, bringing together the science and technology of aeronautical engineering, materials and manufacturing, with strategic business management skills.
