Professorial and Academic Leaders

Roles of this type are focused to reflect recognised leadership and substantial and sustained reputation in research and/or teaching in a major discipline. There will also be significant leadership responsibilities on behalf of the department and/or the University, and there will be a significant leadership or management contribution.

Academic

Roles of this type are wholly or mainly focused on teaching and research with some leadership or management, but the emphasis on these elements and the nature of contribution will vary. For more senior roles, there will normally be a requirement for a considerable reputation in the UK and internationally, and significant impact on discipline and research income.

Business Services

Roles of this type provide support services to University staff and students. Work might involve clerical or administrative support. More senior roles often combine professional qualification, leadership and managerial experience and have a substantial impact on the running and resources of the University.

Operational Services

Roles of this type provide direct or indirect service provision for students, staff and external clients, through residential, catering, cleaning, maintenance, sports, fire fighting and other site services.

Technical Services

Roles of this type provide technical and/or scientific support to academic staff and students. This may include support for teaching, meetings and seminars, and technical input to teaching programmes and commercial projects.
