How to find us - Cranfield campus

Situated close to Milton Keynes and Bedford, the Cranfield campus is situated in Wharley End, very close to Cranfield village, and is about 10 minutes from the M1 motorway.  There is rail and road access to most major airports as well as coach and train stations. Cranfield campus also has its own airport for private executive business travel.

Here you will find the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, Cranfield School of Management and the School of Energy, Environment and Agrifood.

  • Directions by road

  • From London and the South

    • Take the M1 north to junction 13. 
    • At the roundabout, take the 4th exit signposted A507 in the direction of Bedford. 
    • At the second roundabout, take the second exit signposted to Cranfield, Hulcote and Salford. 
    • Continue along this road to Salford and turn right at T-junction, signposted Cranfield. 
    • Follow this road to the end and go straight across the first roundabout, right at the second, then left at the third. 
    • With the petrol station on your left go straight over the mini-roundabout, and the entrance to the University is the first road on your right - signposted 'Main Reception'.
  • From Birmingham and the North

    • M1 south to junction 14. 
    • Take A509 in direction of Wellingborough, then immediately first right, proceed through Moulsoe, then turn left following signposts.
  • From Bedford and the East

    • A428 then A422 west, exiting left into Astwood (7m), then left again following signposts. 
    • Or A421 south-west towards M1/Kempston/Milton Keynes, taking exit towards Cranfield/Marston Moretaine, then follow signposts towards Cranfield and then Cranfield University.
  • From Oxford and the West

    • Follow A34, then A421, to Bicester, Buckingham and Milton Keynes. 
    • In Milton Keynes follow signs to M1 North (junction 14). 
    • Take A509 in direction of Wellingborough, then immediately first right, proceed through Moulsoe, then turn left following signposts.
  • Parking at Cranfield Campus

    Vehicle Permits are required for all vehicles parking on the Cranfield campus. Visitor Vehicle Permits can either be issued to visitors prior to their arrival or created on the day.

  • Visitor Permit - prior to arrival

    Permits can be issued prior to your arrival by contacting the person you are visiting or Main Reception and providing them with the details of the vehicle(s) due to park on campus. You will need to provide them with:

    • your vehicle registration
    • the name of the person you are visiting
    • the length of visit. 

    The Visitor Permit can then be collected from the Main Reception on arrival.

  • Visitor Permit - on the day

    Should it not be possible to arrange for a Visitor Permit to be issued in advance, visitors will need to visit the Main Reception, Building 26 on arrival to collect a parking permit.

    Visitors going to Martell House, Mitchell Hall or the Cranfield Management Development Centre (CMDC) do not need to register for permits.

  • Rail travel

    • From London St Pancras to Bedford.  A bus service is available from Bedford to Cranfield University (see ‘Bus Travel’ below).
    • London Euston to Milton Keynes Central. Frequent, fast services. A bus service is available from Milton Keynes station to Cranfield University (see ‘Bus Travel’ below)

  • Bus Travel

    Please note that different companies refer to the University in different ways. The main bus stop is named either as 'Cranfield University' or 'Wharley End (Cranfield), Cranfield University main gate'.

  • Air Travel

    London Luton

    Our nearest public airport is London Luton which is situated just off Junction 10 of the M1. More information on London Luton Airport  

    From here you can catch a train direct from Luton Airport Parkway station to Bedford. National rail travel information website . On arriving at Bedford you can take a bus or taxi to the campus. (see 'Bus travel' and 'Taxi information' below).

    Alternatively there are bus services (see ‘Bus travel’ below) to Milton Keynes, where you can change for a bus to Cranfield campus. Alternatively, a quicker option is to take a taxi (see ‘Taxi information’ below).
