Dr Andrea De Martino, technical director at Elettronica S.p.A in Italy, has been appointed Visiting Professor at Cranfield Defence and Security.

Dr De Martino is a leading figure in Electronic Warfare (EW) in Europe, having been involved in the air platform protection, Praetorian Defence Aids Sub-System, for the Eurofighter Typhoon. In addition, he has worked on cross-eye and cross-polar jammers and active expendable decoys. Dr De Martino has been delivering lectures at Cranfield since 2015 on courses including the Military Electronic Systems Engineering MSc and Guided Weapon Systems MSc.

Professor Mark Richardson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield Defence and Security, said: “We are delighted to confirm Andrea’s appointment as Visiting Professor and hope to work more closely with him on all aspects of EW in the future. We have received excellent feedback from students, industry partners and academics on his previous lectures.”

Speaking of his appointment, Dr De Martino said: “I am really honoured by this appointment. I look forward to sharing my career experiences and insight into electronic countermeasure techniques with learners at the University.”
